For many western countries, Made-in-Taiwan or MIT products are
still perceived as cheap labour or low-priced products.
The pavilion of Taiwan Design at the 2007 now! design à vivre
exhibition is displaying more than 70 series of products that have
been created by 18 different
Taiwanese companies.
Each work blends diverse and well-preserved cultural heritage
with the sleekness of modern design.
Whether it’s porcelain, ceramic, furniture, lighting, or other
industrial design, the designers have used modern language
and techniques to transform the
traditional into new styles.
These demonstrate the ability of Taiwanese designers to
incorporate elements of philosophies into concrete embodiments
of Taiwanese culture’s diversity and
detail. |
